Finally, popular P2P streaming player Sopcast is available for OS X. Some may prefer using an external video player like MplayerX or VLC instead of the embedded mplayer; here's how you can do that. SopCast for Mac allows users to view channels originating in many countries from one program on their computer. Available as freeware, the program's channels are also viewable at no cost.
SopCast is the official app for Android of the classic computer program of the same name. Just like the computer version, it lets you stream loads of real-time videos completely free. SopCast for Android works almost exactly like the computer version. You can browse all the available channels, filter them by type (movies, TV shows, sports, radio, etc.), and play any of them as long as you have Internet access. You can also directly access a broadcast through a SopCast link. The quality of the streaming varies hugely depending on which channel you choose. Some of them are in high-def, while others are pretty low quality, and others don't even work. In any case, you can select a default quality on the settings. SopCast for Android is an interesting alternative for those users who want to stream specific videos online. The app interface is a bit crude and quite ugly, but it does the job perfectly.
Devices and Mac OS X version
VLC media player requires Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later. It runs on any 64bit Intel-based Mac. Previous devices are supported by older releases. Note that the first generation of Intel-based Macs equipped with Core Solo or Core Duo processors is no longer supported. Please use version 2.0.10 linked below.
Web browser plugin for Mac OS X
Support for NPAPI plugins was removed from all modern web browsers, so VLC's plugin is no longer maintained. The last version is 3.0.4 and can be found here. It will not receive any further updates.
We provide older releases for users who wish to deploy our software on legacy releases of Mac OS X. You can find recommendations for the respective operating system version below. Note that support ended for all releases listed below and hence they won't receive any further updates.

Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
Use VLC 2.0.10. Get it for PowerPC or 32bit Intel.
